Lens-Artists Challenge #280 – Last Chance

Tina is hosting this last challenge of 2023. In 2022 the Lens-Artists team introduced a ”Last-Chance” challenge. The idea was to post some images that never quite fit any of our 2022 subjects. Here are some favourites of mine that will get a second chance.

Special thanks to all of you who helped us feel the Magical season is here – as your responses clearly showed! For me, that was a truly magical week!

And now, as we approach the close of 2023, the Lens-Artists team has an important change to announce. After having been an integral part of our team since its inception in June of 2018, Amy of Share and Connect will be leaving the team to begin an exciting new adventure. She and her husband will be traveling more extensively and making some happily-anticipated visits with family. We wish her all the best and look forward to her posts as she continues to respond to our challenges whenever possible.  Often – we hope!

We are also announcing that this will be the final Lens-Artists challenge of 2023. We will return on January 6 to begin the New Year with our traditional Favorite Photos of 2023. We look forward to seeing you all again then. In the meanwhile we wish all who celebrate the happiest of holidays as well as a peaceful and joy-filled 2024.

  11. I loved all your quotes. Yes, pleasure can be an education, and fairytales are a must. This could be a piggyback to ”magical”. Yes, we must have flowers! The two sweet ending photos are everything you could want for Christmas…family. I do love the curious photo of the two kids looking in the book sculpture. Interesting. Have a magical week. I imagine you’ll be missing your dad…too. You are on my mind

      Those two kids – yes, they were looking down that swirl I posted on some months ago, where only my hands could be seen…fun.

  14. Of course I loved your post Ann-Christine – as always your love of nature shines through. But this time my favorites are the woman at the church doors which is so evocative. Did you mean the image to convey that she is unwelcome but wishing to go in? To me it really tells a story. I also loved the children next to the book stack – the image would have been much less powerful without them. Finally your last two images along with the Einstein quote are just perfect!

    • Thank you, Tina – it could be your story, it could be anyyone’s imagined story – but I agree, there is a story.
      The book stack is the opening to the swirled photo I posted once, with only my hands and camera inside. Thought it would be fun to show the whole story!
      And I have so many images of my family…sometimes I post just a piece of them. And around Christmas it seemed OK.
      This is an interesting challenge – to see what people NOT posted before!

  21. The shots with the various children are special and I love the one with the stacks of books, although if I saw a book I wanted to read, how would I get it??? 🙂 Ha! The first photo, the close-up/macro of the flower (orchid?) is gorgeous. Your photos always make me happy.

    • Thank you, Janet, for your always positive comments! That stack of books is the one I featured from inside in another post – there is a mirror at the bottom of it. And getting a book out of there…nope! The opener is a double exposed tulip, I was rather happy with the outcome too, Merry Christmas!
