Travel Theme: Colourful

Ailsa´s travel theme is Colourful, and this is exactly what we need at this time of the year – thank you! Here we go!

Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Doors, Door Knobs and Handles

I love doors and everything on them…so for Cee’s challenge, I have some Roman doors. All collected two weeks ago.

On darkness

November. How dark can it get? The sadest month of the year up here – grey, foggy, drizzling, cold. Every day is a mental struggle. And I do. Struggle to cope with it.

In younger days I used to love Autumn. To snuggle up with a cup of tea and candle light. As the years go by, I find it harder every time to enjoy this season. And November is a month I would love to see wiped out of the calender.

I need light in my life. Tonight there must be some remedies…

Walking Totti in the drizzle – on the look out for some LIGHT and colour …Here we go!

A glimpse of bright green and yellow between the dark trunks lead me up to these beacons. The last months have been extremely warm in Sweden. Flowers are not totally lost and some trees are still wearing some green and yellow finery.

Mushrooms are always a joy, and these pretty ones grow en masse, sitting close to each other on the fallen trunk. Keeping warm. Snuggling up.

Looking closer, they are all little wonders. Like fancy fans or the soft ears of a cat.

Back home again I compare a golden leaf from Ginko Biloba to the mushrooms – they are very much…the same structure. When you come close.

I send you all some sunny Cheers – for you who are lucky to live in the light, and for the light that’s coming back to us next year!

Weekly Photo Challenge: Achievement

For this little guy, it was indeed an achievement to dare coming this close to the dogs. The dad seemed almost as happy as his son!

Travel Theme: Belonging

Belonging could mean many things…For Ailsa, I had to think…

I guess you know by now that I love plants and flowers, trees and – Nature itself. Ferns are some of the very special species on earth and come in many different shapes. I love spring when they peek their curled heads up from solid ground, and I love to see them slowly unfolding their fascinating faces – always hidden in the shadows.

I grow ferns as pot plants to be able to love them through winter as well. And two winters ago I had one of my old dreams come true – I went with my whole family to New Zealand, the land of the silver fern. The koru (Maori for ”loop”) is a spiral shape based on the shape of a new unfurling silver fern frond and symbolizing new life, growth, strength and peace. It is an integral symbol in Maori art, and naturally I bought a koru pendant in jade for myself. I wear it with love, joy and pride. New Zealand will always have a special place in my heart.

So, my son, who works with graphic design, made this picture for me – I hope you will enjoy it as much as I do.

Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Vehicle Details

I’m not sure if this will pass…vehicle details for Cee, but, being so small and well kept I think it’s a detail of its own – a real gem.

More style…and tasty things

More style – food!

Clothes and accessories

Art, toys and peculiarities

Necessary beauties…

Old remedies…

Stylish shops…

It’s hard not to be impressed by the Italians. Everything they do, they do with style. In style. And they all look gorgeous…slim, long-legged women and smart men in sunglasses…Tasty food, great monuments, history seeping through their every stone.

A little taste of this is for stylish dogs too…

Three lovely friends – who were allowed into any shop, it seemed…but they were completely natural! In fact I didn’t see a single dog wearing any of these crazy outfits…

…ballerina? Fur coat? Or…a new necklace perhaps?

Or, why not a new sweater and a pair of jeans…

Honestly…this is ridiculous. Buy a doll. Naked Chinese Crested and some other breeds might need clothes, and sometimes I wish Totti had a raincoat because his fur never dries after a walk in heavy rain…but No.

Travel Theme: Arches

A late night walk in Rome. More arches than in The Colosseum is hard to find.

Walking home treats you to some stunningly beautiful bridges over the Tiber. You never want that soft night to end.

WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge: Minimalist

I guess I don’t have many of these…but I found a couple  from Jämtland last winter. The second one I have published here before. The colours of winter bring out the monochrome feeling and clear freshness. Minimalist.
