The worst walk in a spiral staircase – ever – was made here, in one of the towers of Sagrada Família. It was so narrow and impossible to see the end of it from above. It was a mere deep hole in which I was to step down. Elevator up. Staircase down. No banisters. I’m not afraid of heights, but I often dream of getting stuck in narrow tunnels or holes and getting nowhere. This was a nightmare, but I made it.
This deep crater is to be found in Iceland. We never walked down, as we realized it would take some time, and the view is much more scenic from above.
”We never have much snow down here in the south of Sweden.” This no longer seems to be a fact. We do – have much snow! In 2010 we were totally snowed in and it was impossible to even get the car out. This is the view from my back door. I couldn’t open it and I couldn’t see but a small part of our ”veranda”.

Wonderful photo of the deep snow. How do you dig yourself out the back door when it snows that much? You can tell I have no experience with this kind of weather conditions!
Well…I can’t. I have to go out through the cellar door (which is situated under a roof)and dig myself out to the other doors.
Sounds like tremendously hard work! Bit scary if you did not have the cellar door. I suppose then you have to exit via an attic window??
Why, yes…we do have an attic window. I’ll try that next winter if the snow blocks the cellar door… Brilliant idea 😉 And hard work it was. it took me several hours to dig the car out and I think I was at my job by 11 am…
I tried to shovel some snow up at Beitostolen in Norge, one year. I was exhausted about three shovel-fulls. I don’t know how you manage it.
the spiral staircase looks scary… and you made it! The second one is an awesome shot.
Thank you so much, Amy! But, I would never do that staircase again…
Great entry again … and that winter of 2010 – here down in the South of Sweden – was truly deep and I love the winter to be deep and plentyful.
Me too, but not that funny as I was home alone and had to dig myself and the car out…which took me several hours.
I wouldn’t like to be alone in house with all that snow … hard work, very tough work. In the winter I’m very happy that I live in an apartment … let somebody else do the snow jobs. *smile We didn’t have much snow on this side 2010 – it was from Lund onwards … morst of it and up where you live.
Let’s see what this winter brings…I heard that snow is already coming up north tomorrow.
I have to agree with the spiral staircase…I would of gotten dizzy looking down in such a steep incline….great picture…love it.
Thank you so much! – I couldn’t even take the photo from straight above because of nausea…
Yikes, I am glad I know about that spiral staircase. I will avoid it completely if I ever go to the Sagrada Familia.
Love the Iceland crater – it looks cool.
Thanks..it was. The colours are great on this big island!
Your first photo has me squirming in my chair – I don’t like heights or tight places… congrats for making it down in one piece!
I would not do it again…and had I known about this I would never have gone up in that tower.
