This week I am in for combining two challenges, the WPC and Ailsa’s Travel theme. I just could not resist this…
Of course it has to be a tree…enduring hundreds of years, every season’s challenges – rain, heat, draught, storm, frost, snow – still standing tall and strong. In Sweden no other tree but the giant old oak trees measure up to this concept.
From the Nature Reserve in Gö, Blekinge, here he is – as usual, click to enlarge. Love him!

Oh my such a beautiful, strong tree – that gnarly trunk is fantastic. Perfect for the themes.
Thank you, Mary – I rreally adore this tree.
Wonderful, nothing beats the age and strength of oaks. Always wonderful to visit these beautiful trees!
Agree!
Great interpretation of the themes, Leya. That tree. Only part of it has fallen down. It’s so stubborn, it’s still standing 🙂
I hope he will be standing for another hundred years!
Perfect choice.
😀
Our Live Oaks in South Carolina are equally beautiful – a great example for the challenge.
Tina – for me there was nothing else to choose. Oak trees are just amazing. The trunks are alive with wisdom…
That is an amazing tree – it really radiates both strength and endurance. And of course you have captured it beautifully in these two photos with lovely light and an engaging point of view.
Otto, he is beautiful, just like your comment.
Great picture – it really does look strong!
He’s been standing there as long as anyone living now can remember.
Beautiful trees. 🙂
Thank you, Imelda! It’s the same one but from different angles. The photos taken a late summer evening.
But he is not being MANAGED, Ann-Christine ! – the local authorities should send around some arborists to clean him up and ensure he goes on living for a very long time …
Does that not happen in Sweden ?
Oh, and also – wonderful photos of him !!! 🙂
You are so considerate, M.R.! But, as he is living in a protected area NO ONE is allowed to touch him…or at least to cut or change anything about him. He’s left to Nature.
I see … OK; I guess you guys know what you’re doing. And I can understand that, in a sort of way. [grin]
He, he…in a sort of way! But I see your point!
Beautiful old tree. Great entry for the challenge, Ann Christine. 🙂
My love and reverence for trees…neverending. Thank you!
Trees represent endurance. Great entry, Leya!
Thank you, Amy!
Very good, Leya!
I’m glad you enjoyed him!
