How interesting, it looks like two types of flower with the top bit a little like clary sage. I had to see if it grows here but apparently it is rare and restricted to a few locations in Southern England. Found mainly in mainland Europe.
It is a wild flower, yes. Also called The Swedish Flag. I never knew about it until I was a teenager. It doesn’t grow here in the southernmost part, but on the east coast.
It is! When I first saw this flower, I could not believe it was real…I think I was in my teens. But this flower is not in my home county, so I found it on the east coast. It is also called The Swedish Flag!
Thank you – I remember when I first saw it as a child. I couldn’t believe there was such a plant, because they don’t live in the southernmost part of Sweden where I was born.

Thank you for the info, Jude. So it grows in England too – great.
Well it grows somewhere in the south, but I have never seen it. Possibly south-east where it is drier.
Yes, it is very dry where it grows here. Sandy soil.
Definitely not Cornwall then 😊
😀
How amazing! It’s new to me too, but I wish we had it. I’m assuming from the folk name that it’s a wild flower?

How lovely! I don’t recognise it.
I didn’t think you would. Very rare!
Just lovely and unusual.
Thank you, Janet – yes, it is also called The Swedish Flag.
That is amazing!
Isn’t it? A very strange plant.
I agree! Nature is just so awesome
Two different colored blossoms on the same plant? And in the colors of the Swedish flag? Nature is amazing!

What a gorgeous plant, and a perfect name for it 😊

Yes, thank you, it seems to be rare in many places.
